June Update

3 Jun, 2022, No comments
Due to a high number of calls I am asking all new clients to go and make an appointment online. Once you are in the system it is easy to find your name and pets information to book future appointments.
I am finding out that I am spending too much time on the phone asking questions and filling in the information.  We do run a computer software to help with booking and privacy of all clients. All our prices are on the website.

Please make sure you are reading the service agreement. By signing you agree to all.

No Show NO Calls

1 Mar, 2021, No comments
We really do appreciate all of our loyal costumers ,but  we have had quite a few no shows and last minute cancellations in the last couple of months, sometimes even with appointments that where made the same day!!!
Making an appointment ahead reserves that space for your dog , when someone does not show we not only lose money from that dog but from the dog we could have put in that spot .  We also end up putting off things we need to get done because we think a dog is coming. Everyone can run into a problem sometimes , us included but we have decided  it is necessarily to have rules in place .
Please be aware that while we do send out reminders 2 days before your appointment for confirmation of appointment , sometimes we run into changed or non working numbers or other problems .  It is your job to remember the appointment and keep us updated on your current contact information.
We ask for at least 48hrs notice for an appointment change , ( and remember that we are getting busier so getting another appointment right away may not be possible , though we will try.

What is the difference from a cancellation to a no show.

1. Cancellations----------------We follow the Virginia public school closures as they pertain to inclement weather. We try to work as long as conditions are not dangerous. If you are unsure, please call us to confirm.

——-Cancellation and rescheduling of an appointment, by the client, requires 48 hours notice to waive the FULL appointment fee.

——In the event of inclement weather, a family emergency or any other uncontrollable circumstance, the groomer has the discretion to waive the fee within the 48 hour period.

——-We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a groom if we feel the need to do so. Every effort will be made to reschedule at a time convenient for both the client and the groomer.

2. No-Shows-----------------------It is considered a "no-show" when the client is not available at the scheduled appointment time and does not contact the groomer to cancel or reschedule.

——We reserve the right to charge the FULL grooming fee due to the loss of revenue caused by a "no-show". Please make every effort to call and cancel or reschedule when possible to avoid such situations.

On-Line Booking will need to add a credit card to book an appointment.

I am sorry about the last couple of weeks. I was unaware that the phone service was  patchy. I did not change my number or get disconnected at all. The phone service needed to come in and put in new lines.  If you had tried calling I am sorry about the inconvenience I am open. I also made it available for you to book on line to make it easy.

“I believe our flag is more than just cloth and ink. It is a universally recognized symbol that stands for liberty, and freedom. It is the history of our nation, and it’s marked by the blood of those who died defending it.”

Staying Safe

1 Apr, 2020, No comments
I hope everyone is doing well.

I would like to give everyone a short little up-date what Brenda's is doing while we are on a stay home order.  I have been talking with many different people and working on getting a store front building that will work for all of my clients. I am trying to find something that is easy for all of my clients to get to me.  I am also looking at getting a program for on-line booking.  With me still working for  AEOA this will make it easier for some of you in the middle of the week to make an appointment. Once we get the all clear I will be taking Appointments again.  Hope to see all of you very soon.  The one thing i am really missing is all the kisses and loves that my fur clients share with me.

Where to start to help with eye staining. What you can do to help.

Where to start to help with eye staining. What you can do to help.

Tearstains are typically the result of porphyrins. Porphyrins are naturally occurring molecules containing iron — waste products from the breakdown of red blood cells -- and are mostly removed from the body in the usual way (in poop). However, in dogs and cats, porphyrin can also be excreted through tears, saliva, and urine.

When tears and saliva containing porphyrins sit on light-colored fur for any period of time, staining will occur. And if it seems your pet's tearstains are worse after he's been outside, you're not imagining things. The iron-containing stains do indeed darken when exposed to sunlight.

Provide your pet with fresh, filtered drinking water instead of tap water, which is often high in mineral content or iron and other impurities, including chlorine and fluoride, which are toxic to pets.

Replace plastic food and water bowls with stainless steel, porcelain, or glass. Worn plastic containers can harbor bacteria that may irritate your pet's face.

This is why I only use Pet Products on your dog.

This is why I only use Pet Products on your dog.

Can you use human shampoo on dogs?

One misconception that many pet owners have is that using human shampoo on pets is safe. But did you ever think that human and dogs have completely different skin and hair compositions?
Human skin is three times thicker than a dog’s, which is why a dog’s skin is very sensitive. Both have an acid mantle that is found in the outermost layer of the skin, which is responsible for protecting the skin against bacteria, viruses, and other outside contaminants.

Can you use a human shampoo on dogs?

The answer to the important question, “Can you use human shampoo on dogs?” is no. Human shampoos remove the acid mantle on dog’s skin, stripping it of essential moisture and protection. This can lead to skin irritation, dryness, and itchiness.

A dog’s skin is very sensitive, which is why using shampoos specially formulated for dogs are necessary to keep them clean and moisturized. How are dog shampoos formulated?

#2 – Improve Circulation

#2 – Improve Circulation

Stimulating the muscles and tissues of the body increases circulation and this improved blood flow brings healing. Increased circulation allows more oxygen to reach the tissues and if there are any wounds, inside or outside of the body, this oxygen will promote faster, more comfortable healing. Massage has also been shown to improve range of motion and lower the heart rate. This also relieves muscle spasms and reduces toxic compounds like lactic acid, which cause pain and discomfort.
